Title II, Part A, Teacher & Principal Training & Recruiting
Its intent is to raise student academic achievement by improving teacher and principal effectiveness, and increasing the number of highly qualified teachers and principals. LEAs are eligible to apply. Funds can be used to help teachers prepare for exams, provide professional development and training (including technological innovations), and aid in the recruitment and retention of highly qualified staff (merit pay).
*Note: Charter schools apply for Title I, Part A through the Consolidated Funding Application. The Consolidated Application (Conn App) is an application and reporting process for direct-funded charter schools and school districts that are applying for federal categorical funding.
